LONDON (AP) — Britain is bracing for clashes with right-wing extremists and possible copycat terror attacks after the slaying of a young soldier, adding some 1,200 police to potential trouble spots.
BoE's Fisher says does not want U.S.-style commitment to ongoing QE

CARDIFF (Reuters) - Bank of England policymaker Paul Fisher said on Friday that he favoured small additional amounts of bond purchases over time, but not a longer-term commitment to more purchases like that of the U.S. Federal Reserve. "My view is that we should be doing a slow amount over a period of time. Twenty-five (billion pounds) over three months is a slow rate," Fisher said. "That would be what you kick off with. And then you would stop when you thought conditions were looking a lot better." But Fisher said making a longer-term commitment would be unwise for the Bank. ...

BA plane makes emergency landing at Heathrow after fire

Video footage on Sky News showed the plane at London's Heathrow's airport with smoke billowing out of its right engine. "It's right engine was on fire.
